2 suspects identified in Irmo business robbery

IRMO, SC (WIS) -

Irmo police have identified two suspects in connection with a robbery of the Check into Cash store that took place on April 16, police said Wednesday.

Matthew Williams, Jr. and Porshia Gage, both of Union, SC have been linked to the robbery and are in custody, police said. According to WIS partner WYFF, Williams and Gage were on probation for a string of similar crimes in the Upstate. Gage was released from prison in January and Williams got out on March 10.

Last week a man and a woman entered the store on 7949 Broad River Road, presented a firearm and demanded cash.

Police were able to recover the weapon used in the robbery, which was a toy gun.

    WDAM has learned Lumberton Police Chief Shane Flynt has suddenly resigned. Flynt was appointed as the city's police chief back in September 2017. According to the Lumberton Police Department, Flynt recently put in his resignation.
