Mural in Seminary depicts life in and around town

SEMINARY, MS (WDAM) -

A new mural on the side of Ramey's Grocery in Downtown Seminary welcomes folks and shows what makes the town unique.

The mural was painted by Tim Johnson of Waynesboro. Johnson has been painting murals on businesses for 25-years including around 50 on McDonals Restaurants. This is the fourth mural he has painted for the Ramey's Grocery chain.

"This community is about canoeing and the school so my problem was how was I going to work the school in to it," said Johnson. "Come to find out it's directly on the creek and as a matter of fact there's a trail from the football field that leads down to the creek."

The mural depicts school pride and life on the Okatoma River.

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
