SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials gathered Wednesday afternoon to announce a Bass Pro Shops store coming to Spartanburg County.

"We are extremely excited that Bass Pro Shops will be developing a significant outdoor-oriented retail center in Spartanburg County," Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt said at the press conference at the Chapman Cultural Center.

The store is planned for the Armitage site, near Highway 101 at Interstate 85 in Spartanburg County, and is expected to open sometime in 2016.

"We are confident that this outdoor retail center will have a positive impact on our hospitality and tourism industry," Britt said.

The store will be over 120,000 square feet and will feature an Uncle Bucks Fishbowl and Grill. A restaurant with an underwater theme and 12 bowling lanes.

The store will be part of a 75-acre mixed use development that will include hotels, retails stores and restaurants just off I-85, Britt said.
