Waynesboro man dead after weekend shooting

WAYNESBORO, MS (WDAM) - A 20-year-old Waynesboro man was shot to death Sunday night as he and two other people were driving in town.

According to officials, Cureon Pope was shot around 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of Glitter Lane and Spring Street.

Pope, who was driving, crashed into a pillar in front of a church.

The passengers in the car were not injured.

Police said they are looking for the suspect or persons responsible for the shooting.

Police have only confirmed that the shots were not fired from another vehicle.
