COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Minor flooding is already occurring along the Pearl River in Columbia, but the river is not expected to crest for another three or four days.
The Pearl River at Columbia is currently at just over 20 feet, three feet above flood stage.
At that height, minor flooding of lowlands can be expected.
The forecast is for the Pearl to crest in Columbia sometime Monday night at 23 feet which will cause moderate flooding.
Officials said at 23.6 feet flood waters could begin to cover portions of Highway 587.
