NWS confirms small tornado touched down in Evergreen

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The National Weather Service survey team found evidence that damage in Evergreen Monday morning was caused by a small, weak tornado.

According to the NWS, the EF-0 tornado lasted for less than a mile. It had winds of 65 to 85 mph that caused numerous uprooted trees and minor structural damage to the city hospital, technical school and baseball field.

This was the only tornado in the state during Monday morning's storms.
