(RNN) - Basketball royalty faced off against a higher-seeded opponent that had finally gotten over the hump, and the blue bloods won.

Aaron Harrison buried a 3-pointer from deep in the corner with 5.7 seconds left to give No. 8 Kentucky a 74-73 win over No. 2 Wisconsin on Saturday night.

It was just another day's work for Harrison, who only scored eight points in the game. He hit late-game shots to bury in-state rival Louisville and Michigan in the previous two games.

When the Wildcats (29-10) face No. 7 UConn in the national title game on Monday, it will be the lowest combination of seeds in the history of the tournament.

The game was tied at 71 when Wisconsin's Traevon Jackson went to the line with 16 seconds left after getting fouled on a 3-point shot. He clanked the first shot, the only free throw Wisconsin (30-8) missed all night.

Jackson's attempt at the game-winner as the horn sounded also went awry of the rim. He finished the game with 12 points. Sam Dekker and Ben Brust both scored 15 to lead the Badgers.

Dekker had a perfect shooting start that extended deep into the game. He did not miss on three field goal attempts and eight free throws until missing an outside shot with less than 2 minutes to play.

A Dakari Johnson layup that made it 45-43 with 17:05 in the second half was Kentucky's first lead since the score was 7-5. It was part of a 15-0 run that eventually gave the team a 51-43 lead.

It took the Badgers more than 5 minutes to score their first bucket of the second half.

James Young of Kentucky led all scorers with 17 points, and Julius Randle scored 16. Johnson scored 10 with seven rebounds.

Wisconsin's last Final Four appearance was in 2000 - a loss to eventual champion Michigan State - and the Badgers have made a trip to the Big Dance every year since. They have won at least two games in 10 of those years.

Their only championship was in 1941, though their strong defense and seeding made them a trendy pick to make the Final Four.

The Wildcats now have a chance to add to their collection of eight NCAA Tournament championships, the most recent in 2012.
