RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Lightening is being blamed for a house fire that damaged a 3 story home in Rankin County.

Our crew was on the scene at Heather Road as firefighters battled the blaze. Officials with the Rankin County EOC say they received a call from neighbors about the fire just before 10 Friday morning.

It took emergency crews nearly 3 hours to put it out the blaze.

Firemen had to shuttle water to the site because none was available nearby. The fire was contained to the third floor, but there is heavy water damage throughout the house.

We are told that no one was injured.

Rankin County EOC Director, Bob Wedgeworth, praised his firefighters for their hard work and efforts for saving what they could of the structure.
