Leadership Montgomery to host Unity Award Breakfast

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Leadership Montgomery will hold its second annual Unity Award Breakfast on Wednesday.

The event will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Embassy Suites in Downtown Montgomery, and Chancellor of Troy University, Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., will be the keynote speaker. The event is held to honor River Region individuals and organizations that have reached across cultural lines, enhanced quality of life and made the River Region a better community.

The Unity Award was precipitated by the successful efforts of Lanny Crane, George Goodwyn, Mike Jenkins and Solomon Seay to partner with other individuals to make the community a better place.

The breakfast will recognize four finalist and one overall honoree from among 26 nominees.

    Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
