HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Dozens of professionals in the field of substance abuse treatment and prevention are in Hattiesburg for a four-day conference to help them enhance their skills and knowledge.
The 7th annual Mississippi School for Addiction Professionals is hosted by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health's Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Services.
300 people are participating. It's being held at the Lake Terrace Convention Center.
It features lectures, special events and various courses in substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment.
"We format this conference in a school format, sessions are three hours long," said Molly Portera, school director. "So, we want individuals not to just attend a session that may be an hour or so long, but to get three hours worth of valuable information," she said.
The conference lasts through Friday.
