ALEXANDER CITY, AL (WSFA) -

A Lafayette man is dead after a single vehicle crash Thursday evening.

Alabama State Troopers say 51-year-old Edwin Benton Yancey was killed when the 1992 Chevy 1500 pickup he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.

The accident occurred at 7:05 p.m. on Alabama 50, five miles west of Lafayette. Seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash.

No other information is available at this time as Troopers continue to investigate.
