Hattiesburg Medical Office Raided

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure, in conjunction with the Hidta Task Force and state agencies stormed the Hattiesburg office of Dr. Dorothy Gillespie Thursday morning under an administrative inspection search warrant.

D-E-A agents flooded the building before confiscating stacks of medical documents, paperwork, and evidence. Some residents near the Katie Avenue business could be heard screaming outside and making outbursts as agents raided the building.

Dr.Van Craig, Director of the Mississippi Medical Licensure Board, told Seven On Your Side he could not comment on any ongoing investigation.  However, sources tell us the board may be looking into the doctor's prescription filling habits, and billing practices. Along with whether drugs classified as controlled substances are being prescribed as required by law.

The D-E-A of both Hattiesburg and Gulfport assisted in the efforts, as well as the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Hattiesburg Police Department and the Forrest County Sheriff's Office. Further information is pending from the State Medical Licensure Board, and the investigation is ongoing.
