No verdict in Laurel Walmart shooting trial

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

A jury could not reach a verdict in the case of a shooting and robbing outside of Laurel's Walmart.

Sean Land of Waynesboro had his trial Wednesday where after three and a half hours of deliberation, the jury came back and ten voted guilty and two voted not guilty.

Land is accused of shooting and robbing a Laurel Walmart customer in the parking lot last year in May. According to Jones County District Attorney Anthony Buckley, Land claimed he was in the back seat of a car and never got out during the incident prior to his trial, but on Wednesday he claimed he was never there and is not guilty.

Also arrested at the same time as Land is Sederic Miles, 27. Authorities also charged Miles with aggravated assault and attempted armed robbery. Miles is awaiting trial.

A date has not been set yet for Land to be tried again.
