LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Dozens of Main Street managers from all over Mississippi are in Laurel this week.
Exactly 41 representatives all the way from Ripley's to Biloxi are in the area for a manager's training in organization. The quarterly training provides downtown managers with tools necessary to become successful.
"They're doing stuff here and we want to recognize that so we invite all of our managers to come tour the downtown, be in the downtown buildings and then have these training's at the Ramada," said Mississippi Main Street District Director Jeannie Zieren. "Therefore they take these new tools, this education, they take it back home and implement it in their downtown and make it unique to their place."
This is Mississippi's second Main Street meeting of the year and Laurel organization members along with Mayor Johnny Magee say they are very happy to be hosting the training and are proud to show off their city.
"Anytime we can get people from outside to come to Laurel it feels great," said Mayor Magee. "We want people to know about Laurel because we're here and we want people to come and visit us."
The manager's three-day sessions will adjourn Thursday. According to Zieren, their next meeting will be in September in Ocean Springs.
