Jones County murder suspect transferred to Rankin County

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Jones County man facing murder charges was transferred to Rankin County Wednesday.

According to the Jones County Sheriff's Office 48 hour release roster, 61-year-old Randy Williams was released from jail Wednesday morning and transferred to Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.

Williams pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter after facing murder charges and spending nearly a year and a half behind bars awaiting trial.

Williams was arrested back in September 2012 and for beating 58-year-old Daniel Barlow to death for not paying his rent. Police said Williams slapped Barlow, then pinned him to the ground, punched him a half dozen times, and broke his nose.
