Columbia Police begin serving warrants for uncollected fine payments

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) - Uncollected fine payments double after Columbia Police begin serving warrants.

Columbia Municipal Court received almost double the amount of fine payments last week comparted to the week before.

Municipal court collected around $16, 500, for the week ending on March 21; compared to around $8,500 for the week ending on March 14.

Last Tuesday the police department's Fugitive Apprehension Unit served active warrants all over town for those who have neglected to pay city fines.

Police Chief Clint McMurry says they're happy people are coming in to pay their fines. However, for those that haven't the F.A.U will be out serving warrant every week.
