HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The Area Development Partnership and Pearl River Valley Electric Power Association hosted the first entrepreneur's workshop in the Pine Belt Monday.

The session taught entrepreneurs business building tools such as how to develop business plans, available small business loan programs, tax issues, financial statements and employee benefits.

Kurt Brautigam, manager of member services for Pearl River Valley Electric, said he hopes this becomes an annual event.

"This is an entrepreneurs workshop that we are conducting really for the first time in Hattiesburg although the gentleman who are helping with the instruction have done this all over the state," said Brautigam. They are part of our economic development arm from our state wide association. We hope the people will get a lot out of it and will help make this a, uh kinda of regular event."

According to Brautigam, entrepreneurs help build small businesses and boost the economy.
