JCJC Athletics Press Release

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats claimed the NJCAA Division I national championship with an 87-77 victory over top-ranked Indian Hills Community College (Iowa) here Saturday night at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The game was tied 62-62 with just over nine minutes to play, but the Bobcats wore the Warriors out down the stretch.

Tournament MVP led JCJC with 20 points, while Leo Garrett added 15, Christopher "CJ" White with 14, Thaddeus Hall with 12 and Johnny Zuppardo – a member of the All-Tournament Team – had 10.

Roosevelt Scott had 21 for Indian Hills.

JCJC led 81-77 with less than a minute to play when Ashton Woodson made a layup with 34.2 seconds to play. Fludd followed that up with a dunk at 19.1 seconds and White had a dunk with 4 seconds left to punctuate the victory.

JCJC head coach Jay Ladner was named Coach of the Tournament.

The Bobcats end the year at 28-5, while Indian Hills is 34-3.
