Update: Seriously injured Hattiesburg teen pulled from burning car

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

An 18-year-old Hattiesburg teen was pulled from a burning vehicle Friday morning following a fiery two car accident on I-59 near the Forrest, Jones County line.

Authorities say that about 11 a.m. Juan Pablo Roncallo,18 of Hattiesburg was traveling north when his 2002 Honda experienced a blowout. As he slowed to pull off to the side of the road he was struck from behind by a 2006 Nissan and pushed into the median where the car caught  fire. A passenger in the Honda, Logan Yates, 18 of Hattiesburg had suffered serious injuries and was pulled to safety by Roncallo.

Roncallo and the driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries and were taken to Forrest General Hospital. Yates suffered internal injuries and is in stable, but critical condition and has been airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson.

Authorities say if not for Roncallo pulling Yates from the car he may have burned up in it.
