JCJC advances to NCJAA Final Four with win over Chipola

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats scored the game's final ten points and stunned the Chipola College (Fla.) Indians 86-79 here Thursday night in the NJCAA Division I Tournament.

The Bobcats will now play in the "Final Four" vs. Vincennes College (Ind.) at 8 p.m. on Friday. Harcum meets Indian Hills in the other semifinal game.

The Bobcats trailed 79-78 when Chipola missed a shot. Johnny Zuppardo got the rebound was fouled. Chipola was also called for a flagrant foul on the play with 34.6 seconds left.

Zuppardo hit all four free throws to put JCJC ahead 82-79. Leroy Fludd, Thaddeus Hall and Leo Garrett made free throws down the stretch as JCJC improved to 26-5.

Hall led JCJC with 21 points, Zuppardo had 19 and Fludd finished with 14.

Sam Cassell Jr. had 19 for Chipola.
