JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the Jones County Fire Council

The Jaws-of-life was used to free a Jones County man from his vehicle, Wednesday afternoon, March 19, and he was airlifted to Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg by Baptist Life Flight air ambulance from the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Jones County.

Just before 3 p.m. volunteer emergency medical first responders and rescue units from Union, Moselle, and Ovett responded to the intersection of Highway 11 South and Moselle Seminary Road, in front of Jones Funeral Home, where a red Ford F-250 had collided with a white Ford F-150.  According to officials on scene, the driver of the white Ford F-150 had apparently pulled out in front of the red F-250, which was traveling south on Highway 11 South.

The 74-year old male driver of the Ford F-150 was unresponsive when first responders arrived.  After being extricated from his vehicle the driver was transported by air ambulance to Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, a Trauma II facility, with what was believed to be serious injuries.

The male driver and male passenger of the red F-250 were transported to South Central Regional Medical Center with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Also responding to the accident were Jones County Fire Coordinator Dan McKenna, Jones County Sheriff's Department, and Jones County District Attorney's Office Investigator Wayne Black.
