Columbia car accident under investigation

COLUMBIA, MS (WDAM) -

Columbia police and fire units responded to a two-car accident which flipped one vehicle on Church Street this afternoon.

Around 1:15pm Monday Columbia dispatch took a call of a roll over accident involving a white Ford Escape and a Black Kia Optima at the intersection of Church Street and East Avenue.  

The location is just outside of a school speed zone marked 15 miles per hour.

Police and fire units responded to find the white Escape lying on its roof and the front bumper torn off of the Kia.

The driver of the black Kia was transported to the hospital with minor injuries while the driver of the Escape refused medical attention at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
