KSLA News 12 Editorial: March 17th-Colon Cancer Awareness

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States.

It is a big problem here in the ArkLaTex. But there is good news. This type of cancer is preventable, treatable and beatable. That's why it is so important for men and women to have colorectal cancer screening.

As soon as you turn 50, you should have your first test done. If found early, doctors can remove polyps and stop colorectal cancer before it starts.

This important screening can save your life.

I'm James Smith.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
