FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (WALB) -

For only the second time in program history, the Albany State Lady Rams are moving on in the NCAA Tournament.

The fifth-seeded Lady Rams knocked off Delta State, 49-45, in the first round of the NCAA South Regional Friday night.

SIAC Freshman of the Year Artisha Holston only played 22 minutes, but made the most of them. Holston led ASU with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Keidra Green added 15 points.

Both teams struggled offensively, shooting under 35% from the floor and under 15% from behind the arc.

ASU now turns it's attention to the region's host and number one seed, Nova Southeastern.

The Lady Sharks are 26-4 and fresh off a 75-61 win over SIAC Tournament champion Benedict.

The two teams tip off at 5:30 Saturday.
