HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Construction on a new 228 unit multifamily housing community near the Turtle Creek Mall is expected to get underway in the summer.

The gated community will be called Cross Creek Village and will be located on Cross Creek Parkway off Highway 98 West next to The Lakes at Turtle Creek Apartment Homes. There will be one, two, and three bedroom garden apartment homes. Features include open floor plans, granite counter tops, walk-in closets, a built-in computer station, washer/dryers, and a balcony with a storage closet. Handicapped units will be available and resident will be able to enjoy many more amenities with-in the community.

"The community will have a pool, a clubhouse, a fitness center, billiards room, and a theater room," said Darlene Montgomery, Commercial Real Estate Manager, York Developments. "It will have a leasing office, a room for tenants to use for parties, a playground for children, and an area for pets."

Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months.
