Hattiesburg restaurants help raise money, awareness for Habitat

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The 4th Annual Habitat Restaurant Tour kicked off March, 10.

Each weekday until the end of the month a different location will be named restaurant of the day. Representatives from Habitat for Humanity will be at the restaurant from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. raising awareness on how low income families qualify for a home and how after the home is built they purchase the home with a 20-year, no income mortgage. The payments on the home go to help serve more families.

So far Habitat has helped 63 families move into a new home and assisted two others with needed home repairs.

Restaurant's taking part in the tour are donating a percentage of their sales to Habitat for Humanity. Last year around $4400 was raised.

Featured restaurants for this week include Petra Cafe, Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., T-Bones Cafe Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Chili's Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
