HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - For more than 70 years our country's presidents have declared March as Red Cross Month. In fact, the Red Cross South Mississippi Chapter has been serving our area since 1917. Whether training a group of teens in first aid or supplying support to thousands in the wake of a major disaster, the Red Cross is there. Just last year the South Mississippi Chapter responded 345 times to fires and other local disasters in 13 counties and their work continues every day. We encourage you to join the ranks of these everyday heroes by donating your blood, time or treasure to the American Red Cross. 91 cents of every dollar goes to help those in need.
