John "Bart" Steed announces campaign for MCSB District 2 seat

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

John "Bart" Steed officially announced today, March 11, that he is running for the District 2 seat on the Muscogee County School Board.

Longtime board member John Wells currently holds the District 2 seat, and is running for reelection.

Steed tells News Leader 9 that students are being robbed of the education they need.

"We are not putting ourmoney to the best use," Steed says. "We're having to do more with less. Ourschool system is not equal. We've got schools that are all over the board withtest scores. Now, we should not have to choose to go to one of the higher classschools in order to get a good education. We should be able to do that at anyschool."

John F. Thomas and Victor Morales are also running for the District 2 seat.

The Georgia primary is May 20.
