COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

John "Bart" Steed officially announced today, March 11, that he is running for the District 2 seat on the Muscogee County School Board.

Longtime board member John Wells currently holds the District 2 seat, and is running for reelection.

Steed tells News Leader 9 that students are being robbed of the education they need.

"We are not putting our money to the best use," Steed says. "We're having to do more with less. Our school system is not equal. We've got schools that are all over the board with test scores. Now, we should not have to choose to go to one of the higher class schools in order to get a good education. We should be able to do that at any school."

John F. Thomas and Victor Morales are also running for the District 2 seat.

The Georgia primary is May 20.
