SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police continued their citywide heroin crackdown with a drug raid on Governor Street just before noon Thursday, according to Springfield police Sgt. John Delaney.

"Members of the Narcotics Unit kept the 'full court press' going against heroin dealers in Springfield with yet another drug raid," Delaney said.

Police secured a search warrant for 115 Governor St. after they learned 26-year-old Anabal "Ant" Vazquez was allegedly dealing large quantities of heroin from the residence. Vazquez would allegedly deliver the bundles of heroin throughout the area in his silver Honda Civic, Delaney said.

Detectives seized 158 bags of heroin, scales and drug paraphernalia, and more than $3,000 during the raid. Police also seized several weapons, including a semi-automatic pistol, a Remington 552 rifle, a Hi-Point Carbine Rifle, a double-edged knife, and more than 30 rounds of ammunition, according to an arrest report.

Vazquez was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, three counts of possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, possession of ammunition, and possession of double-edged knifes, Delaney said.

Vazquez was arraigned in Springfield District Court Friday.
