MS Fuego women's soccer is gearing up for the 3rd season in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The WPSL is the largest women's soccer team in the world and Mississippi Fuego is the only WPSL franchise based in Mississippi. This year returning squad include top 10 nationally ranked player and Southeastern Conference WPSL MVP Lisa Mann, former USM All-American Danica Roberts, and players from William Carey University, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. Recent signees in the last week to join MS Fuego include former Irish National Team player Dolores Deasley and current Northern Ireland National Team player Danielle McDowell.
Open Tryouts for the 2014 Women's team are set for March 15 at the Jones County Junior College soccer field from 10 to 3. Lunch will be provided. For more information or to fill out a tryout form, players can visit www.msfuegofc.org.
Frank Smith in his third season as the Director of Operations says, "We are excited to have such a great group of players and staff to work with this season and we look forward to bringing the highest level of women's soccer each summer to the pine belt community. Everyone within our organization whether player, coach, or administrator is working passionately to not only give people in the community a team they can be proud of, but one that is actively involved with the needs of our local community."
Mississippi Fuego competes in the Southeastern Conference of the Women's Premier Soccer League www.wpsl.info. Teams slated to visit the Pine Belt at the Jones County Junior College soccer field include Chattanooga, Alabama FC, Knoxville, Georgia, and Gulf Coast Texans.
