Suspect in Holly Bobo murder enters not guilty plea

DECATURVILLE, TN (WSMV-AP) -

Zachary Adams, the man charged in connection to the murder of missing nursing student Holly Bobo, pleaded not guilty during a brief arraignment hearing Tuesday afternoon.

Security and emotions were high as dozens of people showed up just to watch.

Adams, 29, was shackled at the wrists and wore a black and tan striped jumpsuit along with a bullet-proof vest during the hearing, which lasted less than five minutes.

Judge Creed McGinley asked Adams if he understood the charges, and Adams replied, "Yes, sir."

An April 9 status hearing was set.

Meanwhile, investigators appear to not be finished looking for clues near Adams' property. Search crews and dogs showed up again Saturday off Highway 69 in Decatur County near his Adams Lane home.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirms it requested Shelby County Emergency Services to search there in connection with Bobo's murder. What they can't say is what they were looking for this time around.

So far, the TBI has yet to indicate whether any remains have been found in the case.

Bobo was 20 years old when she disappeared outside her Darden, TN, home on April 13, 2011, as Bobo's brother, Clint, saw her being led away from the home between 7:30 and 8 a.m.

Attorney Jennifer Lynn Thompson is representing Adams. Thompson is perhaps best known for working with the defense for Torry Hansen, the Shelbyville mother who sent her adopted son back to Russia in 2010.
