ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Popular pizza chain Sbarro is filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy for a second time.

Sbarro's filing comes after it closed 40 percent of its U.S. stores, including one inside the Albany Mall. The company said the bankruptcy filing was part of a reorganization plan with creditors that hold 98 percent of their debt.

The fast Italian restaurant still has more than 800 locations open worldwide. The chain also filed for bankruptcy protection in April 2011.

Sbarro's old location in the Albany Mall food court is empty, but Mall Manager Deborah Rowe says they have received a lot of interest in filling the space.
