    Four suspects were arrested Thursday during an attempt to commit a crime at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution. According to prison officials, officers responded to a fence alarm around 5 a.m., July 31, 2014, at the SMCI campus located in Leakesville, MS where officers found two packages. K9 personnel picked up a trail of the suspects which lead towards Wildcat Corner, located at the corner of High School Road and Hwy. 57 near Leakesville.More >>
EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

After a three month long investigation by the EffinghamCounty Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations division, two men have beenarrested and charged with child molestation charges.

The investigation began after deputies discovered JamesLewis, Jr., 29, engaged in sexual activity with a minor in Effingham County.

The investigation revealed that Lewis contacted the victimvia a social networking site and began a relationship with the minor,eventually resulting in Lewis meeting the minor for sex.

After interviewing the child, she was also contacted byClinton "Clint" Clements, 32, of Guyton, who also engaged in sexual activitywith her.

Clements and Lewis were arrested and charged with childmolestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and interference withcustody.

Investigators also believe that these offenders may havebeen in contact with other minors in the area via social networking.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office urgesparents to monitor their children's social networking pages and report theexistence of either of these individuals to the Effingham County Sheriff'sOffice Criminal Investigations Division.
