Hattiesburg woman arrested after car chase in Jones County

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg woman was arrested Monday morning following a high speed chase.

The chase originated in Ellisville at around 7:30 when officers from the Ellisville Police Department spotted Angela Windham driving a reported stolen vehicle. The driver fled from police and the Jones County Sheriff's Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol joined in the pursuit. The chase continued onto Highway 588 where stop sticks were deployed. Despite the right front and rear tires of the Nissan Frontier pick-up being blown out Windham continued driving it for about another three-miles before coming to a stop in the area of Sand Hill Loop Rd.

Windham faces several charges  to include felony fleeing in a motor vehicle, driving on a suspended license, no insurance, aggravated assault on an officer with a weapon, driving under the influence, second offense, and leaving the scene.

During the chase an Ellisville Police and Jones County patrol car were damaged. Covington County deputies also assisted in getting Windham stopped.
