The South Jones Lady Braves basketball team hit the court yesterday in Reed Green Coliseum to prepare for the environment of "The Big House" in Jackson.
Under head coach Sherri Cooley, South Jones is 27-4 this season and a perfect 7-0 in Region 5-5A play.
The Lady Braves lost last week to Natchez in the South State title game on the road, but the team is still confident heading into their matchup against number one seed, New Hope.
"We do have three starters back from last year that played in that championship game and I hope that they can be the ones that can help the other ones with that type of environment and that type of stage," said coach Cooley.
Senior Shania Posey had words of wisdom for her teammates.
"Not to be nervous. [Not] letting the big crowd get to you and just stay focused on what we go over in practice and just play hard. Play team ball."
Coach Cooley said the team is ready to turn the page on their past failures.
"We've been there for four straight years, but we've fallen short. Last couple of years we played in the championship game we were runner up, but we want to go in there and we want to come back champions."
Tip-off against the Lady Trojans is March 10 at 6 p.m.
