HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
Organizers of an annual Hattiesburg festival which celebrates Irish and Italian food and culture have announced their "royalty" who will be featured in the event's parade.
King for St. Thomas Catholic Church's Irish-Italian Festival Parade will be Southern Miss provost Denis Wiesenberg. Queen, or Colleen for the event will be church administrator Deles Roberts and grand marshal will be Hub City restaurateur and founder of the Extra Table charity Robert St. John.
The parade will be held on Saturday, March 15.
"We have a parade that kicks off at 10:30, runs right down 4th Street from Highway 49 toward the church," said Kim Busche, festival chairperson. "And then we take a little bit of a break and, then at 4 o'clock, we have the Celtic mass, which is beautiful, and then at 5 o'clock, we begin the festival," she said.
This is the 6th year for the parade and the 13th year for the overall festival.
