(WMC-TV) - The man accused of kidnapping and murdering missing nursing student Holly Bobo has a criminal history of violence.

Along with various drug-related crimes, Zachary Adams has served time in jail for a variety of charges.

He was charged with domestic violence in 2004. He was charged with assaulting a police officer in 2011.

When executing search warrants on his property Friday, authorities arrested him on unrelated assault charges. According to the affidavit of complaint, on February 6, Zachary Adams held a black revolver to a woman's head and threatened to kill her. He also reportedly pulled a knife on her while threatening to "gut" her.

He had just bonded out of jail on a drug charge a few days before that arrest.

Adams' mother, Cindy, released the following statement before he was indicted:

"We want Holly Bobo found but do not want a witch hunt in doing so. To my knowledge, my son and Holly Bobo never were in the same circles. Being a drug addict does not make someone a kidnapper.

On Adam's Facebook page his favorite books include "The Turner Diaries," which is a white supremacy manifesto and is noteworthy for being read by Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh before his arrest. Adams also listed "48 Laws of Power." It teaches readers how to manipulate people and keep them under control. To see Adam's full criminal history click here.
