Three in custody after shots fired at Laurel convenience store

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Three people are in custody after shots were fired inside a Laurel convenience store Wednesday afternoon.

The incident took place at around 4 p.m. at Sunny's Discount Tobacco and Beer near Ellisville Blvd. and South 16th Ave. Police Chief Tyrone Stewart said an argument broke out between three customers in the store when one pulled a gun and started shooting. Fortunately no was hit. Stewart says officers were on the scene with-in a minute.

Two of the suspects fled and were later captured. The other suspect was arrested at the scene.

    After losing the first two games of the season by a combined five points, Collins has won 12 consecutive games to advance to the class 2A South State title. The Tigers (12-2) defeated Bay Springs 22-8 on Friday to advance to a south state matchup against Taylorsville (13-1). Collins scored twice in the fourth quarter to overcome the Bulldogs on the road. "I feel great," said Collins head coach Eric Booth, a former USM running back.
