Animal advocates holding Animal Lobby Day Wednesday

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Humane Society of the United States and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are teaming up Wednesday for the Humane Lobby Day at the State Capitol.

Animal advocates from around the state are meeting at the Woolfolk Annex Building starting at 9 a.m. to lobby for tougher animal cruelty laws in the state. One of the changes in the law they will be lobbying for is making animal abusers responsible for each offense against an animal. The way the law reads now, cruelty against a group of animals is considered a singular offense.
