ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Buncombe County deputies said a man last seen in January when he was involved in a car crash has been found safe on Tuesday.

Natalie Bailey of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said on Tuesday evening that Anthony DeVilbiss, 45, had been found safe and in good condition.

Deputies said the family of DeVilbiss reported him missing on Thursday, but he was last seen when he was involved in a wreck on Jan. 31. The crash happened on Highway 70 at Six Pack Smoke Stack but was not serious in nature, according to deputies.

The family said he had run off before but always let someone know where he was going. They said this time, he did not contact anyone. Tuesday, moments after speaking with FOX Carolina about how she worried he was dead, Janie DeVilbiss received a phone call from her missing son.

"I started crying, and I said, 'Anthony, why didn't you call us and tell us you were okay?' And he said he couldn't," she told FOX Carolina over the phone. His family lives in Shawnee, OK, and said it is unclear where he was or what he was doing this whole time.
