Boil water notice issued for parts of Jones County

The following is a statement from the City of Laurel Water Production and Treatment issued on 2/21/14:

"A PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE FOLLOWING AREA:

 

Highway 11 South of Laurel from Warehouse Dr. South to Interstate I 59 to include the following side streets: Service Blv'd., Management Dr., Business Dr., Scoggins Dr., and Carney Dr.

From intersection of Warehouse Dr. and Highway 11 south, north to 7th St. in the Industrial Park to 8th St and south to Industrial Blv'd. This will include Avenues "A", "B", and "C" and all side streets. Then west on Industrial Blv'd to the intersection of Industrial Blv'd and Indian Springs Rd. From the intersection of Industrial Blv'd. and Indian Springs Rd. , south to Palmers Rd. From the intersection of Indian Springs Rd. and Palmer Rd. south to Highway  11 South. This will include all side roads and streets in the Pendorff community.

    The Carterville Baptist Church delayed their mission trip to Nicaragua after receiving an urgent phone call that the destination was no longer safe due to an unrest in the country. Pastor of Carterville Baptist Church and mission team lead Ben Skipper says the call came while members were waiting in line at the airport to receive their plane tickets.

    Petal police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday night. According the authorities, the shooting happened around 8 o'clock at an apartment complex.  Detectives tell us the incident involved a man and three brothers. Detectives believe the shooting stemmed in a dispute involving a female. The fourth man involved, the victim, was shot once and was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
