Special presentation and donation at American Legion Post 184

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Saturday morning the American LegionPost 184 in Thunderbolt held a World War Two Ceremony. During that ceremony,the Knights of Columbus donated 2 new wheelchairs so that anyone that needsthem can have them.

Veterans of the Greatest Generationwere recognized and were given a presentation about the United States CoastGuard and their role during WWII.

The wheelchairs are part of theKnights of Columbus's 'American Wheelchair Project.' This now gives theAmerican Legion Post 184 in Thunderbolt seven chairs they can loan out.

"A lot of our members of theKnights of Columbus are veterans so it is a special honor, especially for theGreatest Generation. These men and women have done so much for our country andwe are losing them everyday. So, anything we can do for them is just a featherin everyone's cap," said Mark Corrigan, the State Treasurer for theKnights of Columbus.

The program is not specifically for veterans but reallyfor any organization that needs them.

    Checkpoints set up by the Perry County Sheriff's Office led to two drug arrests on Friday night. Perry County Deputies set up driver license checkpoints on Old River Road and Pumping Station Road.
