The Montgomery Public School System is setting the dates for parents of 4-year-olds who are interested in applying to the system's Pre-Kindergarten Program.
Registration for 2014-2015 will begin during the week of February 24 and will run through March 21, 2014.
Applications are available for download on the MPS homepage at www.mps.k12.al.us and will be accepted Monday –Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the applicant's zoned school.
To be eligible for the district's pre-K program, a child must turn four years old on or before September 1. Children who will be five years old on or before September 1 are eligible for kindergarten. Parents should contact their zoned school for information on kindergarten registration.
The elementary schools that currently offer pre-kindergarten programs are Carver, Dozier, Martin Luther King, McKee Pre-K Center, Pintlala and Southlawn. Each class has a maximum of 18 students and are led by two teachers. There are also community agencies that offer pre-kindergarten programs in several MPS elementary schools. Head Start's programs are located at Catoma, Dozier, E.D. Nixon, McKee Pre-K Center and T.S Morris elementary schools. Family Guidance Center's Success by Six program is located at King and Davis elementary schools.
Parents should contact the Family Guidance Center at (334) 270-4100 or Head Start at (334) 264-0233 to receive information about their programs and registration procedures.
Space is limited and parents are encouraged to register their child for the program as early as possible.
Parents need the following documents in order to apply for the MPS Pre-K Program:

of acceptance status will be mailed to applicants on April 28, 2014. The

to have a complete physical by a pediatrician, a dental exam and a current
Alabama Blue Immunization Certificate (current shot record) to complete the
registration process. A Pre-K Medical Documentation Form will be provided
to all parents of students that are selected for the program. A parent whose
