HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Preparations are underway for this weekend's third annual Caerus Mardi Gras Parade in Hattiesburg.
Parade director Melissa Davis said Thursday afternoon that just under 100 floats had registered for Saturday's parade, which begins at 11 a.m. The theme of the parade is "Sailing the Seven Seas."
"We hope to see a lot of parrot heads and pirate-themed floats," said Davis. "It throws an interesting theme into the works for Saturday."
Participants are asked to be at line-up by 10 a.m. to allow for ample parking.
"We have a day parade this year, so we hope it will draw more kids out and be another family-fun event," said Davis.
Throwing of the beads will continue on 38th Avenue until it reaches Morningside Drive.
"It's going to be a day parade. It's going to be beautiful weather. We just hope that everybody comes out. Come hungry. All the businesses along the parade route once again are having specials- drink specials, eat specials. Come hungry, come thirst and come ready to catch some beads."
