Ocean Springs man pleads guilty to fraud in federal court

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Ocean Springs businessman Scott Walker pleaded guilty to fraud Thursday in federal court in Hattiesburg.

Walker admitted that he created and submitted a false invoice for $180,000 to the city of D'Iberville for payment of consulting services that were never performed in connection with a 3 million dollar grant the city received from MDEQ.

Walker also admitted to conspiring with his father William Walker to divert federal funds to unlawfully purchase property in Ocean Springs.

William is the former executive director of the Department of Marine Resources.

Judge Keith Starrett has set Walkers sentencing for May 6th.
