(CNN) - Is it safe?

That's what the governor of West Virginia is asking about the state's water supply.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin wants the feds to conduct more studies on the water following last month's chemical spill near Charleston.

The spill led to a do-not-use order for 300,000 residents. Some could not bathe in or drink the water for more than a week.

The spokeswoman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the agency plans to assist West Virginia officials with any additional water tests needed.
