Georgia falls on the road to Tennessee 67-48

KNOXVILLE, TN (RNN) – The Georgia Bulldogs lost to the Tennessee Volunteers 67-48 Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (14-11, 8-5 SEC) played the Volunteers closely through the first half, trailing by six points going into halftime. But the Volunteers (16-10, 7-6 SEC) pulled away midway through the second half, leading by as many as 19 points.

The defeat snapped a four-game winning streak for the Bulldogs.

Guard Kenny Gaines led all Georgia scorers with 13 points. The Bulldogs shot 72.7 percent from the foul line but just 34 percent from the floor and 46.2 percent from downtown.

Forward Jarnell Stokes led the Volunteers in scoring with 20 points and added 11 rebounds in the Tennessee win. The Volunteers went 11 of 18 from the foul line and shot 47.2 percent from the field.

Georgia travels to Columbia, SC, to play the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET. Tennessee heads to College Station, TX, to face the Texas A&M Aggies for a 3:30 p.m. ET tipoff Saturday.
