Woman killed in Hampton County wreck identified

HAMPTON CO., SC (WTOC) -

A woman killed in an overnight crash in the Lowcountry has been identified.

The Hampton County Coroner said that Tiffani E Johnson, 24, was killed in a wreck just after 2 a.m. on Lenton Road near Speed Limit Road when the vehicle she was in ran into a tree that had fallen on the road.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the National Weather Service said three people were traveling in the car and that the driver apparently did not see a tree down on the road and ran into it.

Johnson pronounced dead at the scene. Another person, whose condition is currently unknown, was taken to an area hospital, and a third person was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by SCHP.
