Highways starting to ice in northern part of Deep East Texas

A spokesperson for the DPS office in Nacogdoches County said the icy conditions are getting bad on State Highway 259, north of Highway 204. Ice has been reported on all four lanes of Highway 204.

The DPS spokesperson said a serious multi-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 259 near Mt. Enterprise Tuesday afternoon.

"Ice is starting to accumulate on trees and other elevated surfaces here in the city of Henderson," Michael Searcy, a Rusk County resident said via NWS Chat. "The multi vehicle collision I just passed on a minute ago is confirmed by DPS to be just inside Nacogdoches County."

No further details were available.

In addition, patches of ice have been reported on FM 1087 in Nacogdoches County.

Motorists are urged to use caution and travel at slower speeds.
