Mississippi Adjutant General speaks at JCJC black history program

ELLISVILLE (WDAM) - Mississippi's adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Augustus L. Collins, urged students at Jones County Junior College Tuesday to "dream big." Collins was the keynote speaker for an annual black history program at the Bush Fine Arts Auditorium.

In January of 2012, Collins became the first African-American to be appointed adjutant general of the Mississippi National Guard.

Tuesday's program also featured music from Laurel High School's Gospel Choir.

The theme for the event was, "Moving Forward, One Step at a Time."
